We also provide teacher training in Social Emotional Learning techniques:

Your teachers will learn how to use Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in the classroom to communicate when words aren’t working, strengthen relationships, and develop problem-solving skills. This includes hands on materials, language and rhythm instruction.

The Rhythm Muse Classroom Program

Rhythm Muse offers the SEL curriculum which is evidence-based and has shown local school success in L.A. Unified and Santa Ana. The activities are taken from group drumming and group counseling. It is a weekly 40-45 min session to reduces behavior related to inattention, stress, anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity and sluggish cognitive tempo. The program is intended to model and teach social emotional skills and provides ways to manage emotions, increase self-awareness and empathy toward others thereby improving school climate.

This program is accessible to all levels of ability, all cultures, languages, and peer groups. It is one of the most inclusive, evidence-based methods of improving social emotional skills through group drumming and is designed to blend effectively with your existing SEL curriculum.

About the Teacher/Facilitator, Jennifer Vallely, M.A. Ed.

Jennifer believes that the arts bring out each persons unique inner expressions revealing what’s going on inside, and in the inherent need for all of us to connect with others. That connection encompasses acceptance, appreciation, belonging, empathy and the undeniable need for understanding and being understood. Drumming and rhythm activities increase confidence and bring the calm, freedom and inspiration to continue showing up daily.

Jennifer has been a teacher for over 25 years and is a life-long learner. She is curious for more knowledge base and experiences that keep her pursuing the self-expression, authentic communication and a growth mindset. Jennifer facilitates drumming in the Inland Empire, Orange County and teaches locally for MSJC.
